Hey there, friend,
As the year wraps up, I’ve been reflecting on 2024—the highs, the lows, and the moments that caught me completely off guard. This year taught me more than I expected, and I want to share the lessons that shaped me the most. Hopefully, they’ll resonate with you, too.
Here Are Lessons from 2024: A Year of Growth and Insights:
1. People will always seek joy where they can find it
If you deprive others—whether in business, family, or relationships—of joy and pleasure, they’ll look for it elsewhere. Joy isn’t optional; it’s essential. Create space for it in your life and the lives of those around you.
2. Your personal brand is a lifelong project
Never stop investing in your story and how you show up in the world. Whether you’re 25 or 65, there’s no better time to start than now. Be you, unapologetically. Your personal brand isn’t just about work—it’s about the way you show up in every area of life.
3. New lanes take time
Transitioning between jobs or careers can humble you. The process of finding your footing might take longer than you expect, but don’t let that discourage you. Keep going.
4. Stop labeling yourself
Introvert? Extrovert? It doesn’t matter. Life is about relationships. Skip the networking events if they drain you, but find your tribe and connect with them intentionally. Don’t let a label box you in or hold you back from building meaningful connections.
5. 2025 will be the year of systems
AI is dominating the headlines, but savvy business owners know the real game-changer is process. Systems will separate the amateurs from the pros in the coming year. Get your systems in place now—your future self will thank you.
6. Share the unfiltered stuff
The best content isn’t polished—it’s raw, real, and human. Talk about the gut-wrenching moments, the struggles, and how you made it through. Your story could change someone else’s life. Vulnerability is your greatest strength.
7. Your next great connection is waiting
The best people in your life might be just beyond your comfort zone. Don’t let fear hold you back. Push past your limits, follow your gut, and approach someone new. You never know where that next conversation might lead.
8. Help yourself first
It’s impossible to truly help others when you’re running on empty. Fix your finances, prioritize your health, and manage your stress. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s essential.
9. Don’t give up on purpose
Yeah, I know—“follow your calling” sounds cliché. But the journey itself, fueled by curiosity, is worth it. Even if your purpose feels like a moving target, keep pursuing it. The act of searching will bring clarity over time.
10. Parenting is harder than business
Raising kids is no joke—it’s harder than scaling a company. But when done right, both can be profoundly rewarding. The same principles apply: patience, consistency, and showing up every single day.
11. Ask the hard questions
If your mentors and peers aren’t occasionally gulping when you ask a question, you’re not digging deep enough. Growth comes from honesty. Don’t sell yourself short—ask the tough stuff.
12. Therapy isn’t optional
If you think you need it, you do. Don’t wait until life forces your hand. Take care of yourself for the sake of those you love. Therapy isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of strength.
13. Move your body
If you’re not active, start now. Walk, stretch, run—whatever works for you. Physical health is foundational to achieving every other goal in life. Staying active isn’t just about fitness; it’s about staying sharp, resilient, and ready for whatever life throws at you.
14. Learn to really communicate
Want better relationships? Talk. Like, really talk. Digital doesn’t cut it—real, in-person conversations are the cornerstone of every strong bond. Learn to listen deeply and speak honestly. It’s a game-changer.
15. Stop hustling already
There is a better way. Yes, there are infinite ways to achieve massive success. But don’t think you have to work yourself into the ground to get there. Success takes work, but grinding yourself into the ground isn’t the answer. Work smarter, live more, and focus on what truly matters.
Looking ahead, I’m focusing on systems, relationships, and enjoying life without burning myself out. 2025 feels full of opportunity, and I’m ready to embrace it.
What about you? What’s your biggest lesson from 2024?
Let me know—I’d love to hear it.
Here’s to an epic year ahead,
Joe
